2021-2022 Officer Bios
President – Karen Leiser
Karen has a rising 8th-grade daughter and a son who will be a sophomore at McLean High School. In the past she has served as President of the Haycock Elementary PTA, as well as VP of Fundraising for two years and was a scout leader for both her daughter’s Brownie troop and son’s Cub Scout den. Karen runs her own law practice in Tysons Corner handling general litigation and family law. When not working or volunteering (or parenting) you will probably find her following her favorite band around the country or at the Enshin Karate dojo practicing her roundhouse kicks.
President-elect – Robin Reck
Robin Reck is the proud mother of a rising 8th grade daughter and a rising 6th grade daughter at Kent Gardens Elementary School. Previously, she served on the grants committee at Longfellow, led membership at Kent Gardens Elementary, and chaired marketing at her daughters’ preschool. Robin is the head of campaigns and deputy chief of staff at Emerson Collective, a social impact organization, overseeing all advocacy, political, and public affairs efforts to create long-lasting systemic change for every American. 1st Vice President, Programs – Solat Zaidi
Solat has three children, including a rising 8th grader that will be joining Longfellow this fall. She is originally from England and moved to Fairfax two years ago. At Chesterbrook she is the Family Directory Chair and has been a coach for Odessey of the Mind. Previously she has served as a chair for Reflections, chair for International Night, and treasurer for Girl Scouts. She is the Director of Quality Assurance for a translational cancer research company. In her free time, she loves photography, traveling, and baking.
2nd Vice President, Fundraising – Ann Batdorf
Ann has two children: a rising 7th grader and a rising 4th grader at Kent Gardens. She has previously served on the PTA at her children’s schools in Chicago and served as PTA President at their school in the San Francisco Bay area. Ann and her family moved to McLean in 2018 and became involved with the Kent Gardens PTA. She is looking forward to being involved at Longfellow and having a successful year.
3rd Vice President, Communications – Silvia Hidalgo
Silvia and her husband, Juan, from Madrid Spain, are new residents of McLean and new to the Longfellow community. Silvia works in communications for the Interamerican Development Bank in Washington, DC. She has three lovely girls, a rising 7th grader, and twin rising 3rd graders at Kent Gardens. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Though new to the PTA, she is very much looking forward to being part of the Longfellow community.
Treasurer – Kerrie Lineweaver
Kerrie has a rising 10th grade son, rising 8th grade son, and rising 5th grade daughter. At Haycock Elementary she was the Skate Night Chair for several years, and for the past two years their PTA Treasurer. She also has a passion for being in the classroom and teaching Art Appreciation and Junior Achievement. In addition, Kerrie serves on a Board for her church and is a Trustee for UVA's McIntire School of Commerce. In her free time she like to run, walk her dog, read, and vacation with her large extended family. She enjoys volunteering and looks forward to working with the Longfellow community
Secretary – Amy Kales
Amy is the mother of a rising Longfellow 7th grader and two graduates of Longfellow Middle School, who are rising 10th and 12th graders. In the past she has served as the Secretary of the Haycock Elementary School PTA, as well as, the Social Committee VP. In addition to her PTA positions, she has chaperoned a countless number of school field trips and class parties. She and her husband, Jonathan, are attorneys practicing family law with a concentration on divorce mediation and collaborative law.
