Renovation

Longfellow Middle School is currently in the midst of a 2.5 year renovation and addition construction project that is divided into several phases:

COMPLETED -- Phase I -- From January 2010 to March 2011:  New classroom addition including new basement and 2nd floor addition; new Library located in existing courtyard.  Library expected to be completed October 2010.

COMPLETED -- Phase IA -- May 2010 to August 2010:  Renovate Gyms 1 & 2 and locker rooms.

AHEAD OF SCHEDULE -- Phase II -- March 2011 to November 2011:  New front entrance canopy and new entrance lobby; new adminstration wing; renovate existing 2-story classroom area.  Should be ready in September.

ON SCHEDULE -- Phase IIA -- March 2011 to August 2011:  New tech addition and new cafeteria addition.  

AHEAD OF SCHEDULE -- Phase IIB -- June to August 2011:  Renovate Music, Tech, Cafeteria, Kitchen and Stage; construct Kiss & Drop entrance canopy.  Cafeteria and Kitchen will be ready in for school opening.

AHEAD OF SCHEDULE -- Phase III -- December 2011 to May 2012:  Renovate existing building for new Fashion Lab, new Food Lab and new miscellaneous rooms; renovate existing building for new Science and other classrooms; renovate existing building for new Guidance offices, new Teacher's Lounge and new Clinic; complete renovation of existing corridors; complete renovation of entrance.  Demolition completed.  

AHEAD OF SCHEDULE -- Closeout:  June 2012 to July 2012

NOTES:

1.  Minimum of two weeks between each phase for school to move into completed phase or out of required next phase.

2.  A Certificate of Occupancy must be obtained prior to moving into a completed phase.
